May 2023 Recall Information


Dear Valued Ark Naturals customers,

This is Michael (CEO of Ark Naturals) and Wendy (CEO of Antelope, parent company of Ark Naturals). First off, we sincerely apologize for the concern and inconvenience this incident may have caused you. We recently made the decision to initiate a recall of certain products, which some of our customers may have heard about from retailers through a product safety issue notice. We want to provide more information about what happened, what to do, and what we're doing to prevent it from happening again.

We recently learned that a supplier inadvertently omitted a mold-inhibiting ingredient from the formulation of a limited subset of our products (only 3 specific products are affected, which are listed below). After investigating the situation, we initiated a voluntary recall as a preventative measure for these products due to a chance of mold forming before the product reaches the end of its shelf life.

For this reason, if you still have any bags from the products and lot codes below, please dispose of them immediately. If you believe you have a product from the following lot codes below, we’d love to assist you with a replacement of your affected product.  For Value Packs the lot code is printed on the bottom panel next to the UPC. It will read as a date followed by a four number timestamp such as “AUG092022 12:50.” Products not listed below are not affected by this issue.

What is the recall for?

Out of an abundance of caution, we at Ark Naturals have issued a voluntary recall for 3 specific products (Ark Naturals Brushless Toothpaste Value Packs) because the products have the potential of containing mold at some point during the product’s shelf life. We recently learned that a supplier inadvertently omitted a mold-inhibiting ingredient from the formulation for these products. As we always have, we stand behind our products and want to make sure that your pups get the best! Please know that we have received no confirmed reports of illness caused by these products at this time.



How do I know if my products are affected?

Only a handful (3 specific products) of our Ark Naturals products have been affected. If your product is from the following lot numbers, it is covered by this recall.  Just to clarify, even if your product is from one of the lots, it may still not contain mold. We’re simply saying that the chances of it developing mold are higher than we find acceptable because it lacks a mold-inhibiting ingredient.  If you have a product from this list, please throw it away immediately.  No other products are affected.

What do I do if I have an affected product?

Please throw it away immediately and don’t feed it to your dog, just in case.  We recommend that you email us at with your purchase receipt, photo of your product/lot code on the package, and we will send you a replacement free of charge. 


Please know that we are doing all we can to respond to everyone as quickly as possible and we are very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.



What if my dog has already ingested the affected product?

As mentioned above, just because the product lacks a mold-inhibiting ingredient doesn’t mean it has necessarily developed mold. If your dog ingested the affected product already and has had no reactions (such as upset stomach, vomiting, or diarrhea), you should be fine, but as with any situation, if your dog seems ill, please consult your vet.
